The hope that in the future fiscal policy will not need to support energy, as happened in the past due to the energy crisis, expressed the new Minister of Environment and Energy Thodoros Skylakakisupon receipt of the ministry by the serving minister, professor Boar Pants.
Mr. Skylakakis described the priorities, making special reference to the climate crisis which, as he said, is in its first phase and will worsen in the coming decades, and the need “to respond to the country’s multiple obligations in the energy and environment sectors ” but also to advance the green transition in an unstable and changing energy environment”.
“There is no luxury of idleness. We have strict targets regarding European obligations and the utilization of the Recovery Fund and NSRFwhere there are strict milestones and timetables which I will insist we adhere to with great fidelity”, he stressed.
The Minister of Environment and Energy presented the ministry’s policy objectives, which, among others, include increasing the penetration of RES in electricity generation to 80%, the energy upgrade of 600,000 homes, the implementation of programs for energy saving and electrification, the promotion the search for natural gas deposits, international energy interconnections, the integration of waste management infrastructure, forest protection, the new way of operating the electricity market and the fight against energy poverty.
The new Deputy Minister (former General Secretary of Energy) Alexandra Sdoukou he said: “It is a great honor and responsibility to continue working for energy from the position of deputy minister. We will continue the policies and open new chapters, we will specify the measures in the next period”.
Outgoing minister Pantelis Kapros handed over to Mr. Skylakakis the draft of the new energy planning that should be submitted to the EU in the next period.
