In a very good atmosphere, the handover ceremony of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport was held, from the outgoing minister Ioannis Golias, to the new minister Christos Staikouras and the deputy ministers Christina Alexopoulou and Nico Tahiao.

Mr. Ioannis Goliasafter welcoming the new leadership of the ministry and wishing them success in their work, noted that “the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is a ministry that has a multitude of responsibilities with a significant contribution, on the one hand to the development of the country and on the other to the quality of everyday life of the citizen”.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Hr. Staikouras, thanked the prime minister for the great honor and responsibility of assuming this ministry and underlined:I promise to work honestly. The interest of the country will be the guide in the way I carry out my duties.

The last four years have been enough. We will keep the many positives and build on them.

However, it is a fact that there are also open, important and big issues. Our strategy is the meritocratic utilization of the rich and experienced human resources of the ministry and the pursuit of the maximum possible political, social and parliamentary convergences and consents, in order to deal with both existing and emerging problems».

He congratulated the outgoing minister, Ioannis Golias and the previous political leadership of New Democracy, namely Kostas Karamanlis, Giorgos Karagiannis, Michalis Papadopoulos and Yiannis Kefalogiannis.

The goal of the new leadership, as Minister Christos Staikouras said, is the optimal planning and further strengthening of infrastructure and transport in our country, effectively utilizing national and European resources. It is also known that infrastructure and transport are key pillars for improving the quality of life of citizens, enhancing productivity, increasing competitiveness, reducing regional disparities and stimulating economic growth, sustainable development and the prosperity of the country. “And all this, in the context of transparency, justice, honesty and respect for every euro of Greek and European taxpayers“, he noted characteristically.

The new Deputy Minister of Transport, Christina Alexopoulou, thanked the Prime Minister for his trust in her and noted that “the Greek people have already twice justified their choice for commitment to government work, for high goals and for work with results, without many words. This industriousness and efficiency are also my own philosophy, which will guide me during my term in the position of responsibility, which I am currently assuming».

She emphasized that she will utilize her knowledge as a civil engineer, in the major projects she has dealt with in her professional career, in order to carry out the mission assigned to her.
