“It still has a way to go, we’ll see if I do it,” said the former Panathinaikos basketball player Nikos Pappas, referring to whether he will go into politics. Until today it was known that he would run for the Municipality of Athens with the support of SYRIZA, for which he emphasized that “various of their moves did not fully express me”.

Speaking in detail about his involvement in politics, he said that “it was something I had in mind. That is, he entered last. I took the initiative to start some procedures. What I have realized so far is that this environment is not so pure and innocent. It’s a bit toxic for me. The only reason I wanted to do it was because I wanted to offer without the slightest selfishness. It still has a way to go, we’ll see if I do it,” said Nikos Pappas speaking to ANT1 and added:

Mr. Alexis Tsipras publicly supported mefrom there on it is a party that I have never had any interaction with in the past and in fact their various movements did not fully express me, nevertheless I appreciate that they saw in me a person who can, so to speak, make this city a little better”.

Referring to the entry of the “Spartans” into the Parliament, Nikos Pappas commented:

“It didn’t surprise me at all. We saw NIKI enter the Parliament, we saw the Greek Solution. We also see a Government staffed with guys like Adonis, Pleuris and Voridis. Let’s not pretend we’re falling from the clouds. We know the monster of fascism is out there. I think it’s up to us to throw it into the cesspool of history.”
