“The name of Alexis Tsipras has already been written in indelible letters in the history of the Left, but also in modern Greek and European history.

A journey of fifteen years, a journey started by the Synaspsimos Youth, a name that has come to be heard in every corner of the Earth, is something unprecedented and unprecedented for Greece.

The country’s first leftist prime minister. The man who raised his stature, along with the stature of an entire people, in the times of the greatest, darkest crisis we have known post-war.

Coming from the people, and not from the “political hearths” of the country, he became the head of a government and a party, which fought for the people, for the weak, for the world of work, when all the other parties were either trying to convince society that “there is no alternative” to the harshest neoliberalism, or they waited patiently for “conditions to mature”.

And yet, he succeeded. We succeeded in many things, despite the adverse conditions, despite the constant war from powerful interests, from home and abroad. They never considered him “theirs”, they never had him in their hands. It was not and is not their hand. He is of a different background, governed by a different ethos.

He is the prime minister of a government that brought the country out of the memorandums with the society standing. Who regulated the debt, reorganized the economy. And who, at the same time, bent over the problems of society, restored labor rights, practiced social policy for the many and the many. It collided with nationalism, intolerance, xenophobia. And of course, he is the global leader who signed the historic Prespa Agreement. Defending principles, values ​​and ideals, without for a moment calculating any political cost.

For SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras is not just its president. He is the protagonist, the exponent, the leader of his electoral expansion, of his enormous spread in every city, every neighborhood, every social stratum. Which put SYRIZA in the hearts and minds of millions of people.

In victories and defeats, in joys and sorrows, of this small party that made it big, always from the front line, always a fighter and a pioneer.
