Tatum on the future of NBA Europe: “We are talking to Greek teams”!

by

In important details regarding its design NBA Europe and how the creation of the new league is progressing, Mr Mark Tatum.

With his statements, the deputy commissioner of the NBA revealed the countries from which the people of the league want to be represented in the new European championship, stating characteristics that there are already discussions with Greek clubs, without however going into details!

What Mark Tatum said:

“Our goal is to start in the next two years. The reason we do this is not primarily commercial. Basketball is the No. 2 sport in Europe, and as you can see, in the EuroLeague there are no permanent teams from the UK, Paris, Rome or Berlin. The league is not open to all clubs in Europe.

In the first phase, our plan is to have teams from Spain, UK, France, Italy, Germany, maybe Turkey and maybe Greece. But there will be some open positions in the ecosystem, so in the initial phase they will be able to qualify.

We are talking to many clubs, including from Greece, but I can’t go into details.”
