The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met today with the Archbishop of America Mr. Elpidoforin the Maximos Palace.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis reaffirmed his support for the spiritual, social and educational work of the Archdiocese and thanked Mr. Elpidoforos for the services he provides to the diaspora, while the bill to remove restrictions on the ability of Greeks abroad to vote was also discussed in their place of residence.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his optimism that the vote will be possible of the bill by more than 200 MPs, noting that the facilitation of voters who are already registered in the electoral rolls but reside outside the Greek territory would constitute “a revolution for the political participation of Greeks abroad in the citizens of the homeland”.

The Archbishop of America congratulated the Prime Minister on his election victory and expressed his full support for the bill, adding that “it is something that
all Greeks abroad are waiting”, so that the current restrictions will be lifted and they can exercise their right to vote from their place of residence, as they want to participate in the citizens of Greece.
