“A big and sincere thank you to the men and women of the Fire Service, the Armed Forces, the Security Forces, the volunteers and also the members of the fire brigades who help us through the European civil protection mechanism for their self-sacrifice that goes beyond the limits of duty”, said the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, during his introduction to the briefing for political editors.

“Their valuable assistance in extinguishing, extricating and fighting the flames. We all know that the country is on high alert due to the fires that are developing in several parts of the country,” he added.

Mr. Marinakis emphasized that the main priorities are both the protection of citizens’ property and the natural environment.

“The state apparatus must be and is in constant vigilance and adapt the ways of dealing with such phenomena with upgraded means and practices,” the government representative underlined.
