The payment of compensation for the second half of the year to the country’s urban and interurban buses, which transport students free of charge or with a reduced ticket, begins immediatelyfollowing the relevant decision, which was co-signed by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Staikouras and the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, responsible for Transport, Christina Alexopoulou.

The decision provides fund amounting to 4.81 million euros and concerns 30 urban and 62 intercity buses.

In the Government, we set as first priority the immediate resolution of the issues of everyday life. We ensure timely free or reduced-cost transportation of students by intercity bus, in order to ensure their smooth movement to and from the place of their studies. At the same time, we relieve them of a significant cost or the budget of their families, in an effort to increase the disposable income of our fellow citizens. Social policy, aimed at strengthening the core of Greek society, young people and their families, is at the heart of our plans, decisions and actions” said the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras.

For her part, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, responsible for Transport, Christina Alexopoulou noted “With 4.81 million euros, 30 city and 62 intercity buses are being supported for the transport work they offer, consistently and safely moving students to their schools. This is another confirmation of the support that the Government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis provides to the Greek region, but also to road passenger transport professionals.

As the Prime Minister has emphasized, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport plays an important role in the development planning of the country, as well as in promoting reforms, such as intelligent transportation systems, which improve the quality of life even in the most remote part of the Motherland.s”.
