In his statement, the candidate for mayor Spyros Pegas says: “We have the special pleasure to announce today that the former mayor of Thessaloniki, Yiannis Boutaris, will be a candidate for municipal councilor with “Thessalonica for All”. His participation in the ballot is honorable for our municipal movement and a pioneer for public life. His candidacy as a municipal councilor expresses his timeless concern for the city, regardless of titles and offices. It states the need to mobilize all the forces of the city that desire change in the administration of the municipality and dream of a dynamic, extroverted, progressive and sustainable Thessaloniki. I thank him from the bottom of my heart.”

In a statement, the former mayor Yannis Boutaris he emphasizes: “Throughout my life I have always been an active citizen. I participated in public life from various positions, standing up for what I believed was right. I have an opinion about the city, which I expressed as mayor in the period 2011-2019. In recent years I have continued to participate in the community, from my position on the Board of Directors. of the Holocaust Museum of Greece and the Ark of the Hellenic Vineyard.

After completing my mayoral term in the municipality of Thessaloniki, I have never stopped being interested and caring about what is happening in the city. Unfortunately, in these four years, Thessaloniki took many steps back. My participation in Spyros Pegas’ ballot is an expression of my concern for the course of the city. I was and always will be an active citizen. At this stage of my life, my participation in the city council, as a simple councilor, satisfies this concern for the city. I am a candidate in the municipal elections without any expectation of personal benefit or position”.
