The moment of truth came too soon, in his context 3rd Harvest Festival which starts at 30/8 in Naoussathe region’s winemakers will find out if they have finally created their own treasure.

It was in September 2021 when the winemakers of Naoussa, for the first time in Greece, immersed 500 bottles of sour wine in the bed of Arapitsa, with the aim of discovering whether the flowing and gurgling water of a river ensures interesting organoleptic characteristics in wine, as it has been shown to be the case by placing them on the seabed.

“THE highlighting wine tourism and the wine tradition of our region is one of our main priorities. From September 2021, we started the Harvest Festival, an important effort in collaboration with our winemakers, with original actions focused on sour wine, such as the immersion of 500 bottles of wine in the historic river of Arapitsa, with the aim of aging them. In this year’s organization of the 3rd Harvest Festival, among the various events, our winemakers will also do the first taste test of wines that were immersed in our river, two years ago, to see the first results of this project”, points out the mayor of Naoussa , Nikolas Karanikolas, as indicated in today’s relevant announcement.

He also emphasizes that the municipal authority is intensifying its efforts in an institutional and holistic way, so that actions are organized all year round, focusing on Naoussa and the high quality wines produced by the winemakers of the region. For this reason, as the mayor of Naoussa explains, “we recently formed the Wine Tourism Committee, while at the same time we are advancing the procedures to create a Master’s Degree Program in the field of Oenology and Wine Tourism in our city, in collaboration with the International University of Greece”.
