Despite the backsliding and internal party frictions which were provoked some time ago in their party “Spartans” on the occasion of the support or not of Ilias Kasidiaris, now officially the party of Vassilis Stigas takes his side and supports Ilias Kasidiaris, who was convicted of running a criminal organization, who is contesting the Municipality of Athens in the upcoming municipal elections from prison.

According to an announcement issued by the Spartans, they estimate the combination of the former Golden Dawn leader, could be a bulwark for the city of the Athenians. They argue that “under the current circumstances, the candidacy of the “Free Athenians” combination, led by Ilias Kasidiaris, could be a barrier to the disastrous course of the Municipal Authority of the New Democracy in Athens.

Although with Mr. Kasidiaris, we have several ideological and practical approaches, nevertheless his candidacy is indicated in order to finally stop the downward spiral of the Municipality of Athens under the administration of Kostas Bakoyannis.

The voters of “SPARTAINS” know very well what they will choose!

Good luck to Ilias Kasidiaris”.

The same time, for tomorrow at 5 pm the convergence of the Parliamentary Group of the Spartans party, which was postponed from the beginning of August, is scheduled, but which is not expected to have the same weight in terms of the “guerrilla” that nine of the twelve members of the party had raised against their president, Vassilis Stiga, regarding the party’s relations with Ilias Kasidiaris, as it now seems to be clear the connection of the condemned member of the Golden Dawn with the Spartan party.

It is recalled that on August 3, the then scheduled meeting of the Parliamentary group of the party, for the “guerrilla” of 9 members of the party to support their colleague Konstantinos Floros and his position in favor of the candidacy of Kasidiaris for the Municipality of Athens postponed until the end of the month (and will be held tomorrow 8/28). To be precise, the meeting of the KO had turned into a meeting of three due to the absence of many MPs in their districts, finally the president of the party Vassilis Stigas met only with the secretary of the KO Yiannis Dimitrokalis and the press representative of the party Stathis Katsivardas.

However, based on the president’s statements at the time, Mr. Stiga, – as well as today’s official support for Kasidiaris, it appeared that he was the one who did reverse at full speed, causing a sensation with his statement on August 3 in which he insisted – as he had said before the election – that Ilias Kasidiaris functioned during the election as “the fuel that helped us get the Spartans to the percentage they have at the moment”.
