In written statement of protest to the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenbergthe Permanent Representative of Greece to NATO proceeded, following relevant instructions, according to diplomatic sources, following the wishes of the NATO ground forces headquarters in Ankara.

The NATO Land Forces Command (LANDCOM), based in Izmir, posted on its account on the “X” platform, a congratulatory message to Turkey on the occasion of the celebration of the so-called “Victory Day”, the anniversary that coincides with the defeat of the Greek forces in Asia Minor in 1922.

“On this special day, we would like to express our gratitude to Turkey for hosting us on this special day. Since joining NATO in 1952, Turkey has taken part in many operations and exercises and its soldiers have always shown great professionalism and determination. Turkey and NATO are stronger and safer together.” wrote LANDCOM.

It is noted that LANCOM had made a similar mistake last year, while after the Greek reaction the post was deleted.
