The Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni, attended today the regular meeting of the Board of SETE, where with the president of the association, Ioannis Paraschis and the members, the positive course of Greek tourism for this year was discussed, with the increase recorded both in relation to 2022 and and with 2019.

The Minister then emphasized the importance of developing a joint approach between the Ministry of Tourism and the Association, focusing on a strong, competitive and sustainable tourism, while she detailed the major challenges for the future of the sector, such as dealing with climate change, hypertourism, the increased need to comply with legality by strengthening control mechanisms, the critical labor issues, the intense competition that is returning, and of course, very important issues of competence, such as the immediate need to regulate short-term leases, special zoning and air navigation issues .

During the discussion, Mrs. Kefalogianni sent the optimistic message that the country can establish itself as a globally attractive destination, with a tourist season that will go beyond the few summer months, and will expand for a longer time, taking advantage of its inexhaustible wealth, while he set three goals, so that we can respond to these modern challenges.

As he mentioned, the first goal is the sustainable tourism development by completing the interconnection of the destinations and spreading the visitors in the 13 regions.

The second objective is the enrichment and diversification of the tourist product with an emphasis on highlighting new products, experiences and destinations, while the third objective concerns the strengthening of the image and identity of the Greek tourist product in the international environment.

Finally, the bet, as he characteristically mentioned, of the following day, is that of a sustainable and long-term development of Greek tourism, which will give the maximum to the Greek economy and of course to Greek society, inviting those present to contribute with their cooperation to this common targeting.
