Immediate attribution of responsibility for the tragic death of Antonis Karyotis, says PASOK in its announcement
PASOK brings to parliament the tragedy that unfolded in the port of Piraeus with the murder of Antonis Karyotis. The PASOK parliamentary group submitted a question about the complete absence and non-intervention of the Coast Guard from the area where the incident occurred.
In particular, the PASOK parliamentary group requests from the Government, specifically from the responsible Minister of Shipping & Island Policy, “clear answers to a series of relentless questions, in particular regarding the complete absence – and therefore non-intervention – of the Coast Guard in the area”.

” Pan-Hellenic people were shocked by the tragic images that unfolded in the port of Piraeus, on Tuesday night (5/9/2023), during the departure of the E/G – O/G ship Blue Horizon, when the 36-year-old passenger Antonis Karyotis tried to boarded, albeit belatedly, however, was prevented in an extremely violent manner by members of the crew, as a result of which he was pushed overboard and lost his life unjustly.
Afterwards, and without any attempt to rescue the unfortunate man from the sea, the ship departed normally for its destination (Heraklion, Crete) and only about an hour after setting sail, it returned to the port of Piraeus, following prosecutorial intervention, for further actions which inevitably accompany such a tragic event.
Apart from the obvious responsibilities of the crew, however, as can be seen from the visual material released to the public a few hours later, the complete absence – and therefore non-intervention – of the Coast Guard from the area where the tragedy unfolded also raises key questions.
And this happened, despite the clear provisions of the relevant Ministerial Decision (Y.A.) 2415.1/51133/2021 (F.E.K. 3461/B/29-7-2021) “Sanction of Regulation “Amending the Regulation of the Operation of Port Authorities Principles””, which provides
