Some have become possessed and behave in a violent and abominable way towards our weak fellow human beings, said Mr. Androulakis.
On Friday morning, the President of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, attended the funeral procession of Antonis Karyotis, which was held at the Holy Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Agios Nikolaos, Crete.
The following is the statement of Mr. Androulakis:
Greek society is shocked by the murder of Antonis Karyotis.
There is a huge “why” in our thinking.
Because some people have become possessed and behave in a violent and abominable way towards our weak fellow human beings.
We have a duty to prevent our society from becoming a jungle of inequalities, violence and corruption. And this is the role of the state.
We all have to think: If the coast guard had been there, if there had been the presence of the state, maybe today Antonis would be alive.
We deserve more than what happens every day and what unfortunately led to the heinous murder of this man, Antonis Karyotis, who will forever remain in our memory as the mirror of society, which we must change by putting our weak fellow human beings at the center .
