“I think it will be overcome” said the Foreign Minister of Luxembourg on the case with Beleris and the relations between Greece and Albania
In the case of the elected of the mayor of Heimarra Fredis Beleris who remains in custody, the Minister of Foreign Affairs mentioned, among others, George Gerapetritis during the press conference he gave with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn after the meeting they had on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
As Mr. Gerapetritis said, the Beleri case is a violation of International Law.

It was also mentioned in immigration, saying that a controlled central European policy is needed on three axes: border surveillance – ensuring return (humanitarian protection) – legal migration routes.
From the side of Jean Asselborn referring to the Beleri case, he stated that he does not wish to make any reference to Greece-Albania relations, but argued that it is a difficult case which, however, “I think it will be overcome”, he said.
For steps taken with Turkey commented that it is extremely important for the EU to have stability in the Aegean.
At the same time, he sent a message to the Turks that no progress will be made if Turkey does not respect the rule of law and fundamental human rights.
Finally, regarding immigration, he stated that there is indeed a flow from Turkey and emphasized that Turkish policy encourages Syrian refugees.
“Europe must think about finding ways of legal immigration and there should be a common European policy” emphasized Jean Asselborn.
