Lefteris Avgenakis visits areas affected by the deadly storm Daniel every day and talks with affected farmers and ranchers.

In Farsala, a damaged greenhouse and cattle breeding unit were visited.

He also visited the artificial lake Karla, in the Municipality of Riga Feraios, which overflowed as well as the Xirias bridge, which collapsed in Almyros.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food Dionysis Stamenitis, the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Triandopoulos, the MP of Larissa Christos Kapetanos, the president of ELGA Andreas Lykourentzos and the deputy governor of Magnesia Dorothea Kolyndrini.

During his visits, Mr. Avgenakis had contacts with Mayors and officials of the Local Government and with farmers of the area.

As Lefteris Avgenakis points out, the goal is to restart the production process throughout the Thessalian plain and to support farmers in every way.

At the same time, in his television appearances on ERT and OREN, Lefteris Avgenakis characterized what is being said and written about the need for a five-year lapse for the re-use of the flooded lands for cultivation to be baseless and incorrect.

He emphasized that ELGO DIMITRA is already doing soil tests as well as on the waters for irrigation and reminded that in the corresponding case of IANOS, the farmers of Karditsa were able to immediately cultivate the lands that had been flooded.

The meeting held by the Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food Dionysis Stamenitis, with the President of ELGO DIMITRA SerkoHarutounian and the Director of the Institute of Industrial and Livestock Plants Dr. Dimitris Vlachostergios, in the presence of the Secretary General of Union Resources and Infrastructure Dimitris Papagiannidis.

It was pointed out that ELGO – DIMITRA will immediately proceed to issue instructions to the producers for the management of the soil from the effect of the flooding phenomena on the fields.

Also, the Deputy Minister Dionysis Stamenitis, accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Trikala, Christos Michalakis, visited Mylotopo Kalambakas, where the rush of water destroyed the road network, cutting off access to the entire Aspropotamos mountain mass with the central part of the region.

Dionysis Stamenitis assured the farmers that in the coming days the Armed Forces will build a metal military bridge in order to serve the needs of the citizens and restore access to a certain extent.

Deputy Minister Stavros Keletsis was in charge of the successful effort to re-open the animal by-products management factory in Larissa’s BIPE.

The Region of Thessaly, the Fire Brigade and EMAK cooperated for the transport of the personnel necessary for the operation of the factory. This unit has the capacity to handle 250 tons per 12 hours. Which means an additional possibility of managing 10,000 dead animals per day.
