“I lead an effort that embraces us all, that will have nothing but winners. Because, tomorrow’s ballot box gives the victory to the modern Left, it gives the victory to the new SYRIZA-PS, which will work for the common good that befits our country and that is why it should govern”, stressed the candidate for the presidency of SYRIZA- PS Stefanos Kasselakis in his keynote speech at Thisio.

He commented that “some people think that values come down from the sky and when they come down, they come down only to the heads of a select priesthood, which all of you must listen to intently, without accountability. They don’t like unmediated relationships, because they want uncomplaining relationships: believe it and don’t research it.” He mentioned that he himself says: “see, believe, investigate”, to add: “I am no Messiah, I am one of you who, like you many times in your life, take the initiative to lead a common, ambitious and successful effort, instead of sitting with folded hands or praying to your god.”

He noted that the big difference with ND politics is “the man at the center” and that today he is here to offer, “so that we can all write a new history together that will serve the common good.” He said that the common good is served only through the welfare state, which is “a prerequisite for inclusive development and social well-being, decent work and healthy entrepreneurship, the environment and security for all”. “The social state of the future can only come through a patriotic, modern Left”, he emphasized, noting that “patriotism does not mean crowns and instrumentalization of symbols” and that “we do not give our homeland to anyone”. “We will defend our borders, our national sovereignty and our sovereign rights. And we will defend them with worthy armed forces and with a high social attitude”, he emphasized.

Mr. Kasselakis said that “modern Left” means “the great political force, the great progressive faction that will fulfill the modern needs and demands of the whole society”. He spoke about institutional reconstruction of the country, high quality, free public Health and Education for all.
