The Minister of Foreign Affairs addressed a taped message to the symposium of the Hellenic Society of International Law held in Lemnos
The Treaty of Lausanne “definitively and irrevocably regulated the international legal framework of our wider region, drawing stable borders”, underlined the Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis in his greeting at the symposium of the Hellenic Society of International Law “The Lausanne Conference and its decisions 100 years later” which is being held in Lemnos from September 15-17, 2023.
Mr. Gerapetritis emphasized the strong symbolism of this initiative, due to the place where it is taking place, as he recalled “it was the Treaty of Lausanne that sealed Greece’s sovereignty in Lemnos”.
On the other hand, he pointed out, the organization of the symposium “undoubtedly contributes to the promotion of the scientific dialogue on a landmark issue of the 20th century as the Treaty definitively and irrevocably regulated the international legal framework of our wider region by drawing firm borders”.
Mr. Gerapetritis sent a written message as he is in New York to take part in the work of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly with the aim, as he pointed out, “in addition to conducting a series of international contacts, promoting Greece’s candidacy as a non- permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the two years 2025-2026”.
