Kyriakos Mitsotakis gives a full interview at this time
After all, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis from Thessaloniki is giving a press conference at this time, in the context of the TIF.
Watch live:
The first question was asked by the journalist of the newspaper Eleftheria of Larissa, who raised the issue of early warning of the Thessalians about the disaster, why the army was not activated in time and what is the plan for the next day in Thessaly.
Mr. Mitsotakis answered:
-The phenomenon was indeed unprecedented, outside the models judging from previous incidents. We are talking about a phenomenon much more intense than Janos.
-Warnings had been sent to Thessaly, but the protocol is different from that of the fire. The recommendation of the Civil Protection is to go to high ground, so we did not mourn a large number of dead in the end.
-A lie that has been peddled that the army was slow to get involved. We decided the helicopters would fly when it was safe. That’s what happened. No life was lost because we were late, not a fellow citizen went hungry or needed other help. There was certainly a great deal of suffering.
– We can say a lot about the next day. The productive reconstruction goes through the rational management of its waters. This is very old.
