The causes of the tragic accident in Libya that claimed the lives of five people, who gathered there to offer humanitarian aid, will be immediately investigated, said the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, speaking on Monday morning to SKAI.

As for the confused information in the first hours after the crash, Mr. Marinakis, after expressing his devastation at the loss of the five people, said: “What the Ministry of Defense is telling us is that this was the information initially from the Libyan state, there was no possibility of telephone communication due to the situation prevailing there”.

As for whether safety rules were observed during the movement of the Greek mission, he said that the causes of the accident will be investigated, that the first information speaks of a tragic car accident, but “we cannot say anything for sure before the relevant investigation is done and the official answers from the Ministry of Defense”.

Regarding the developments in SYRIZA he commented that SYRIZA also joined the logic of electing a president from the grassroots and that the government is monitoring the developments as next Sunday the leader of the official opposition party will be elected.

Regarding the participation in yesterday’s election process, he commented that no process is underestimated, but he added that it was the same as last time and that SYRIZA is changing its leader for the first time since 2008.

He added that being young is not enough to claim the vote of the citizens, and that we are all judged for our ideas, positions and actions.

Age alone is not a passport to anything, he said of Stefanos Kasselakis.

He commented that among the dominant ideologies of SYRIZA is “polarization” and that it is very dangerous for democracy to hear positions such as “to remove the teeth” from institutions.

“Alas if someone likes to loosen the teeth of the institutions. We all have confidence in democracy,” he said characteristically.
