Early last July the Political Secretariat unanimously assigned me the great responsibility of press representative after the resignation of Popi Tsapanidou.

Yesterday afternoon I was informed by websites for decision of the new President, Stefanos Kasselakisto appoint a press representative for the beloved and valued companion Gifts Augeri. I wholeheartedly wish her strength and success in her new duties. I’m sure he’ll do great.

It was a difficult three years, with a lot of daily work in the most hostile media environment, with stress, endless nights, small joys and big sorrows. Most of all, though, it was a great experience, a huge honor to serve our party in a position of responsibility and even greater to work with great people and friends.

The last difficult transitional period we all fought together for SYRIZA to be – Progressive Alliance present every day, alongside society, in the gloomy summer of disasters. And we stood up, serious and reliable, with arguments and answers. It wasn’t obvious at all.

Today, with the strength of the 150,000 members who participated in the election of the President, with the new President, Stefanos Kasselakis, with all of them, comrades and comrades, we must fight the great social and political battles ahead of us with unity, camaraderie and a political plan in order to return SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance to a governing orbit.

I owe a big thank you to Alexis Tsipras. A big thank you to the members of the Political Secretariat. For their trust in a new man. For their trust in a political executive of the enlargement.

This is how we should proceed the next day as well. As Alexis Tsipras said in Galatsi in April 2019: “The Progressive Alliance is not a title under the name of SYRIZA. The Progressive Alliance must be implemented in every city, in every village, in every neighborhood, in every workplace.”

“It was July 2019 when I was unanimously elected by the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance as director of the Parliamentary Group following the proposal of Alexis Tsipraswhom I thank for his honor and trust all these years. In this period up to July 2023, it was 4 difficult years with a lot of daily work in the face of a difficult environment dominated by the ND in the Parliament.

On July 2 and 3, 2023 the Political Secretariat voted unanimously for me to be a member of the new bureau and Director of the Parliamentary Group. Institutionally, all the members of the presidium are elected and appointed by the Parliamentary Group. The comrades honored me with their trust and I thank them warmly.

At the Bureau of the Parliamentary Group we did everything humanly possible to SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance to effectively fulfill its role, that of official opposition. With daily collaboration, compositions and immediate decision-making the party and its caucus were led into the new period we are in today without any problems.

Yesterday late afternoon I was informed by websites about the decision of the president Stefanos Kasselakis to appoint in my position a new Director of the Parliamentary Group, comrade Giorgos Tsipras. We already contacted George Tsipras and I told him that he will have all the information and everything he needs from me. I wish him strength and success in his new tasks.

I would like to especially thank all the members of our Parliamentary Group over the years for the excellent cooperation we have had. I tried to be fair and with the necessary compositions so that our collective decisions are always served. I worked without taking into account trends, mechanisms but with the sole criterion of efficiency, the common good and collective functioning.

Also a big thank you to all the members of the Secretariat of the Parliamentary mss Group and its partners for their work and our daily cooperation even in the most difficult hours.

I remain committed to our goal of a strong SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance with extroversion and unity. Unity that cannot be just a goal but served by the daily actions of all of us and especially by our new president.

As a member of the Central Committee and the Political Secretariat I will continue to fight every day for a strong left-wing progressive faction to free society from the government of ND and Kyriakos Mitsotakis”.
