The finding that the bad weather starts and descends further south than Thessaly and will cover Domoko, Fthiotida, the entire Region of Sterea, Phocis, as well as North Evia, the Minister of Civil Protection testified during the Coordination meeting that took place in the region of Central Greece Vassilis Kikilias.

The General Secretary of Civil Protection Vassilis Papageorgiou, representatives of the Armed Forces and Security Forces, Deputy Regional Governors, Mayors and representatives of municipalities, as well as executives of the Technical Services of the Region of Central Greece participated in the coordination meeting.

In his statements after the end of the Coordination meeting, Vassilis Kikilias advised the citizens to follow the instructions of the authorities, stressing that “we know that there is the story of Sperchios in everything that has to do with overflows and the problems that arise mainly in villages of the region. Civil Protection has already drawn up a plan, and I think we will all do our best together. Strength is always in unity!”

For his part, the Regional Governor of Central Greece, Fanis Spanos, underlined that “even in the interim, the services of the region they have intervened at critical points with cleanings and arrangements of streams” and he added that “we are working proactively with emergency work in places where flooding may occur” as he said.

“We remain vigilantso that we can intervene with all our forces – if and where necessary – depending on the intensity and duration of the weather phenomenon” underlined Mr. Spanos.

The Regional Governor of Central Greece called on citizens to follow the instructions of Civil Protection with priority as he underlined “the protection of human life and then of property and the environment”.
