He also assured that the Greek Police, as in the past, will do their duty and find the perpetrator.
“The desecration of the Mosque in the village of Pilima in Xanthi by writing slogans in the Turkish language and placing bullets as a warning to the Imam, the Muezzin and the Waqf Committee to abandon the Mufti and join the well-known extra-institutional centers and parallel structures, such as states the Mufti of Xanthi in its announcement, it is an unprecedented act, absolutely condemnable and alien to Thrace and the Thracians, regardless of religion, said the Secretary General of Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports Giorgos Kalantzis.
He also assured that the Greek Police, as in the past, will do their duty and find the perpetrator.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the incident of September 29, 2023 is the third episode, within four months, in Thrace in which either no Thracian residents are involved (in the incident of 6/15/2023 the perpetrator was a foreigner and was convicted) or it is intra-Muslim dispute (9/3/2023 incident was a result of family disputes between Muslims).
Finally, he declares that Greece remains committed to the principles set out in its Constitution and in particular article 13 which absolutely protects and guarantees everyone’s religious freedom.
