“Thessaloniki is a city that carries chronic difficulties and problematic infrastructures, but it is changing and changing at a very high speed,” said the Prime Minister
“I am here to reiterate my support for Konstantinos Zervas to be the next mayor of Thessaloniki,” said the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, leaving the election center of the mayor of Thessaloniki, at 8 Mackenzie King Street.
On the occasion of his presence in the city, Mr. Mitsotakis visited shortly after 6:30 in the afternoon the election center of Mr. Zervas, who has received the support of the ND ahead of the municipal elections that will take place on Sunday, October 8.
The two initially had a brief meeting inside the election center and then the prime minister spoke about the cooperation with the mayor saying that “we have faced many crises as you know in the last 4 years. Today, however, we have every reason to be able to look to the future with more optimism. Thessaloniki is a city that carries chronic difficulties and problematic infrastructures, but it is changing and changing at a very high speed. It is changing through significant public investments that are being made. I had the opportunity to meet today at noon with the mayor at the signing of the operation and maintenance of the new metro that will be operational in 2024”.
Mr. Mitsotakis added in his statement that “today is not the time to talk about the important investments that are being launched at the level of the central government to change the face of Thessaloniki. However, I will talk about the many private investments that are being made. A Thessaloniki that can attract foreign investors. A Thessaloniki that is turning into a business hub for the entire Balkans and at the same time a center of culture, education, and the provision of quality health services. This is the Thessaloniki we envision.”
Then, in his capacity as the First Member of Parliament for Thessaloniki, he asked the leaders of the faction “to put aside at this moment any bitterness, which inevitably can always arise through a four-year difficult government. To support Konstantinos, to win the municipality of Thessaloniki. It is a political bet that we have made and that we must win and then move forward together into the next day. The next four years will be the four years of Thessaloniki with Konstantinos Zervas as mayor”.
Upon his arrival at the polling station, the Prime Minister was received with applause by MPs and officials of the ND, candidates of the “Yes in Thessaloniki” ballot and voters.
