“In the first 15 days of October, we continued seamlessly, with a plan, methodical and effective actions for modern infrastructure and smart transport in the country” emphasizes the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras in a post on social media.
The minister’s post for the actions of the first 15 days of October is as follows:
-We signed, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the contract for the operation & maintenance of the Thessaloniki Metro.
By 2024, the city will have one of the most modern Metros in Europe, offering fast, comfortable, safe, cheap & “green” transportation.
-We provide radical solutions by modernizing & renewing the city bus fleet, as we signed the contract for the supply of 250 new state-of-the-art electric buses, which will be on the streets of Athens & Thessaloniki until the end of April.
-We re-approved the “Extension of the Ionian Road, section: Ioannina – Kakavia”, with a budget of Euro234 million, 70 km long. A road project of particular importance for Epirus, Western Greece & the countries of the Southwest Balkans, as it gives added value to the sectors of transport, trade, tourism & logistics.
– We collaborated with the head of the Western Balkans Transport Community, Matej Zakonjsek with the aim of improving the interconnection of Greece with the Western Balkans in the field of transport.
– Accompanying the Prime Minister to the Tripartite Summit of Greece – Bulgaria – Romania in Varna, we worked on the prospect of implementing the new Rail Freight Corridor “Baltic Sea – Black Sea – Aegean Sea”, in the context of the new European Transport Corridor.
Following the tripartite contacts, we took the political initiative to promote a new alternative “Solidarity Line” between Greece, Bulgaria & Romania, to connect with Ukraine.
-We are formulating the National Strategy and the BIM (Building Information Modeling) Roadmap, with funding of Euro550,000, in order to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of the country’s infrastructure in the most modern and digital way.
At the Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport, concludes Minister Christos Staikouraswe work systematically, with quality & efficiency, in order to change the everyday life of citizens & to make our country a positive example.
