“Greece today is a positive surprise in an environment of a lot of negative news, having now launched a very dynamic development course with absolutely orderly public finances”, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis pointed out during his speech at the meeting held in the Region of Epirus in Ioannina.

He emphasized the need for a further simplification of the responsibilities at the level of the organization of the State, saying how the big challenge for his government is the multi-level governance, the clarification of the responsibilities and stated how he will proceed at a faster rate than in the previous four years.

“The government always cooperates with all the rulers of the local self-government, regardless of party origin,” emphasized Mr. Mitsotakis, since, as he said, it is his first visit to a region after the self-government elections.

The prime minister congratulated the regional governor of Epirus, Alexandros Kahrimanis for his “triumphant”, as he described it, his re-election from the first round and noted that the regional governor has the comfort of talking to him about the various issues and he makes the most of this opportunity.

He referred to the signing of the contract for the sale of the majority package of the shares of the Port of Igoumenitsa organization that took place in the morning and said how we should expect “a launch of Igoumenitsa and the whole of Epirus” as a result of this very important investment.

He pointed out that another important commitment of the government was realized and this is the registration of Zagori in the list of World Cultural Landscapes and in the spring the official ceremony of its proclamation will take place.

He said that the government is close to the region with the aim of launching the big projects that Epirus needs, such as the Ioannina-Kakavia road (its re-auction was announced), the Technology Park in Ioannina, etc.

In his intervention, the Speaker of the Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoulas he said “use Kahrimanis and Mitsotakis and their partners to move Epirus forward”.

“You are the last hope not only for Epirus but for all of Greece”, said Epirus regional governor Alexandros Kahrimanis, addressing Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. He thanked him and indicated that he spends more time talking with him than with ministers.

Mr. Kahrimanis asked the Prime Minister to proceed with all pending projects in Epirus and to support the primary sector.

The ministers were present at the meeting Kostis Hatzidakis of Finance and National Economy, Lina Mendoni of Culture, Christos Stylianidis of Shipping, the Deputy Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Maria Kefala, the MPs of Arta, Giorgos Stylios and Preveza, Spyros Kyriakis and MEP Anna Michele Asimakopoulou.

Before the meeting, the Prime Minister visited the Archaeological Museum of Ioannina where he admired the exhibition of the Dodoni lead plate utilitarians on which those who turned to the Dodoni Oracle for answers wrote their questions.
