Changing the terms of the game and making a show of fists from the USA, Stefanos Kasselakis suddenly opened the exit door to N. Filis, P. Skourletis and D. Vitsa characterizing them as TV sponsors of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. And now everyone in Koumoundourou is talking to each other.

In his post, he said, among other things: “The world is hungry for us to highlight issues, to be in opposition. Me too, more than anyone. Instead, some ‘suffocate’ us by refusing to accept grassroots election of president – but appear as ‘SYRIZA Executives’ every day on the channels, playing their game. Consequently, Messrs. Vitsas, Skourletis, Filis who appeared in the last few days on television to oppose their own party, chose to put themselves outside SYRIZA-PS”.

It is certain that in Koumoundourou they can no longer march together. Stelios Kouloglou was the first to walk through the exit door alone from SYRIZA and now we are looking for who will be next.

The Umbrella text that seals the divorce

THE “Umbrella” he has undoubtedly taken the initiative of the movements with executives such as Euclid Tsakalotos, Nikos Filis, Nikos Voutsis, Panos Skourletis, Andreas Xanthos Anneta Kavadia, Efi Kalamara, Katerina Knitou, Panos Lambrou, Harris Matsouka, Andreas Xantho etc. to appear ready to take the lead.

After the last three deletions the “deck is re-dealt”. Signature text, which was sent on Friday night to members of the party, “Umbrella” is preparing to make public. Putting a “stamp” on the imminent “divorce” it states, among other things: “Convinced of the historical importance of the founding convention of SYRIZA as a coalition of political forces of the broad Left, from the left social democracy to the radical left, we will not be able to coexist harmoniously in the same party and to be represented by a leadership that is applying for a divorce from any political rationale associated with the Left, its values, ideas, ethos and style.”

There is no common ground anymore with the new president and the “debate” between the two “camps” is daily, public and causes new cracks. The new wave of opinion polls that will see the light of day, logically from next week, will show what state the party is in shortly after the self-governing elections, but also before entering the crucial “budget” battle in Parliament.

Now the Ethics Committee will get to work in the next few days. Executives were already commenting that for the four executives who have taken the path of deletion, their expulsion from the party will not be an easy task. First the Political Secretariat will have to issue an opinion, but already the majority in favor of the leadership side was marginal at the meeting last Wednesday. But even in the Commission itself there does not seem to be an increased majority of 2/3.

As “Kathimerini tis Kyriaki” had published, the discussions on the new scheme being prepared have progressed. Environment, ecology – elimination of inequalities, work – socialism and democratic freedoms – feminist movement are the four points that will be emphasized with the executives of “Umbrella” holding daily meetings and intensifying their contacts with other persons from the wider area of the left.

In politics, everything is a matter of timing and that is what those who react to the choices and the way Stefanos Kasselakis is doing politics are looking for. The “bloc” of parliamentarians – executives who are close to Efi Ahtsioglou they have not yet opened their cards on how to move. Developments, however, are now rapid.

Certainly, if the “Umbrella” leaves and they are left alone in the party, they will find themselves trapped, as they will now be officially called upon to assume the role of internal party opposition. The meeting of the Central Committee in about two and a half weeks will be pivotal, as those who have not yet decided what initiatives they will take will open their papers. The referral of the four executives to the Ethics Committee works, according to estimates, as an “accelerator of developments”.

In the next few hours, Stefanos Kasselakis will return to Greece, as he will attend the Economist conference on Friday. His speech is certainly awaited with interest, mainly to see if he will move along the line he drew on the BSE, causing a storm of reactions and which were reflected in the meeting of the Political Secretariat last Wednesday. From New York, speaking on “COSMOS FM”, he emphasized that “the elitism of the organs in SYRIZA must go”, adding that the strategy he believes in is to “open the party to society”.
