Businesses have one week to enter the register POS, which is at their disposal, and correct or update the image of their POS as it was configured on September 30 based on the data sent by the providers. The correction or completion is done by the following path through the digital portal myAADEà Register & Contact à Business Details. According to the statements of the head of AADE Giorgos Pitsilis, it is estimated that in our country today there are approximately 1 million active POS. Active POS means that which can be used to complete transactions with a card, even when it is used or available as a backup, in case of functional failure or other emergency.

At the same time the Payment Service Providers (Acquirers) and Through Payment Providers (NSPs) they must inform AADE that the POS models they have are in accordance with the specifications set by AADE and can therefore be upgraded. This declaration of compliance must be made no later than 24/11/2023.

In these Declarations, compliance deadlines are set as follows:

-Until November 17 for the interconnection of simple cash registers with wired or wireless POS in a local network by national providers.
-Until December 8 for the interconnection of simple cash registers with mobilePOS (4G) and softPOS from domestic Providers
-Until January 8 for the interconnection of POS with all complex cash systems from domestic Providers, as well as any interconnection from foreign Providers.

Once a POS has been upgraded, in the last stage, the company informs AADE and from then on it has 30 days to connect the upgraded POS to its cash register.

If a POS is old or non-compliant and cannot be upgraded, the business must notify the POS Registry that it intends to purchase a new one by January 15.

In any case, the interconnection of cash registers – POS must be completed by February 29, 2024. This date concerns in the first phase the approximately 500,000 businesses that are obliged to have a cash register.

The next stage has to do with upgrading the POS. As long as they meet the specifications, the companies should start their upgrade which will be done remotely. The upgrades should be done by the providers who must inform AADE daily about the upgrades they complete.
