In her statement, Efi Ahtsioglou speaks of the “authoritarian prosecution” of ADAE executives who were investigating the surveillance case, and which “highlights the vindictiveness of Mr. Mitsotakis”.

SYRIZA MP PS specifically mentions that “the summons to an apology of former and current ADAE executives who were investigating the wiretapping case is another episode in the operation to cover up the scandal and is aimed at intimidating the Authority’s auditors”.

Mrs. Ahtsioglou argues that “this action is added to the recent coup d’état change in the composition of the Authority’s members by the government, but also to the obstacles placed in the cross-checking of surveillance data by the Anti-Corruption Commission”. He adds that “the pursuits of Mr. Mitsotakis, responsible and accountable for the surveillance scandal, and Mr. Dogiakos, who ordered the order for ADAE executives shortly before leaving his position, are obviously identical.”

Mrs. Ahtsioglou comments that “the authoritarian prosecution highlights the vindictiveness of Mr. Mitsotakis and the anti-institutional methods against the officials who had the authority and dared to check the scandal” and notes that “the matter should immediately be brought to the attention of the Commissioner of Justice”. It also states that it is necessary “to undertake joint action by the democratic opposition against the retreat of the rule of law and to shield independent authorities”.
