A memorandum with the demands of the National Confederation of Persons with Disabilities (ESAMeA) was delivered today to the Minister of Health, Michalis Chrysochoidis, by the president of ESAMeA, I. Vardakastanis.

Mr. Vardakastanis asked for the strengthening of cooperation between the Confederation and the ministry, emphasizing issues of accessibility to health structures,

Michalis Chrysochoidis – according to the Ministry of Health – for his part, “assured them that he will take into account their requests and their proposals and noted that horizontal policies will be taken immediately”. The goal, as he emphasized, is “the continuous improvement of the conditions and the provided health services”.

The ESAmeA delegation referred to the meeting – among other things – on EOPYY issues, such as dealing with the increase in participation in the pharmaceutical expenditure of people with chronic diseases and disabilities, the equal access of uninsured citizens with disabilities and chronic diseases to health structures, the necessary travel increases for kidney patients, hemodialysis and transfusion recipients, while issues related to the National Transplantation Organization and blood donation issues to cover the needs of people with Mediterranean Anemia and Sickle Cell Blood Disease were also discussed.

The meeting was also attended by members of the Board of Directors and the Auditing Committee of ESAMEA.
