The newly elected Mayor of Athens responded to the congratulatory letter sent to him by the Mayor of Constantinople
The newly elected Mayor of Athens, Mr. Haris Doukas, responding to the congratulatory letter sent to him by the Mayor of Constantinople, Mr. Ekrem Imamoglou, expresses his intention to maintain open channels of communication and emphasizes the necessity of the cooperation of the big cities to deal with modern challenges, such as climate change and social inequalities.
In his message, Mr. Doukas points out that the goal is to exchange best practices and solutions, in order for the residents of the two cities to live in peace, social welfare and stability, while he appears positive for a meeting with Mr. Imamoglou in the next period of time .
In his congratulatory letter, Mr. Ekrem Imamoglou wishes Mr. Doukas good success in his new duties and emphasizes that he looks forward to close cooperation between Athens and Istanbul, through the B40 network of Balkan cities.
Mr. Imamoglou makes special reference to Mr. Doukas’ capacity as a scientist, but also to his vision, underlining that he is confident that he will fight to implement the management principles of modern cities, such as sustainability, equality and inclusion.
