The Municipality of Peristeri was visited by Secretary of the Political Committee Pavlos Marinakis, in the context of his visits to Municipalities of Attica. First stop of the visit was Dove House of the Child’s Smile, where the New Democracy executives met with the person in charge of the house in Peristeri, Iro Chioti, the coordinator of the “Smile” houses, Roula Sideris, as well as educators and teachers. During their tour of the place, the party executives had the opportunity to get acquainted with the holistic work of “Smile” and the care it provides to children, many of whom come from an abusive family environment. All children over 12 years old, who are hosted at home in Peristeri, have been vaccinated, while now the vaccination of children from 5 years old has started.
The main topic of discussion was strengthening the mental health framework and the improving mental health support infrastructurewhile the secretary of ND Pavlos Marinakis pledged for the even closer cooperation of “Child Smile” and New Democracy, with the aim of strengthening a national plan for child protection, while expressing the gratitude of the whole society for the people who dedicate the their life in this sacred purpose.
Then, the secretary of ND toured the shopping center of the Municipalitywhere he visited local shops and talked to traders, local business owners and employees.
Afterwards, a short meeting was held with executives of DIMTO and the local ONED Organization, where the party executives discussed the issues of the area, the special needs of the Municipality, the development prospects of the area and the infrastructure projects that are progressing in the Municipality.
Last stop of the visit was City Hall of Peristeri, where the secretary of ND Pavlos Marinakis, the deputies and the executives of the party met with the mayor Andreas Pahaturidis. During the meeting, the mayor referred to the issues that are a priority for the Municipality and called on the secretary and the party executives to stand even more on the side of the citizens, especially in view of the global inflation crisis. Special reference was made to the Antonis Tritsis Program and the need to accelerate the implementation of the emblematic infrastructure projects. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Mayor for Housing Development for Municipal Affairs Panagiotis Lykos and the Deputy Mayor for Environment and Quality of Life, Mary Tsiota, who referred to the need for government measures to address the energy crisis to be used at local government level.
The secretary of New Democracy, Pavlos Marinakis, stressed in his statements: “I strongly believe in contact with people from the local government, the market and the civil society. And today we had the opportunity to meet and talk with these people, here in Peristeri, one of the largest Municipalities of Attica and a pioneer in terms of entrepreneurship, social solidarity and innovation. Our goal is to highlight the work that has been done by the government during these two and a half years, watching its implementation closely but also to know the issues that exist in every city, in every neighborhood. At a time when the official opposition is in sterile denial, voting “present” in the donation contract of the Pediatric Hospital in Thessaloniki and voting “no” in support of teachers for the purchase of technological equipment and the rest of the opposition forces “whistle” indifferently, the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, continues to support the citizens, reducing taxes and creating new jobs “.
