A young Roma man was fatally injured last night after a police chase incident with his car during a police check after a chase.

“I would like to express my sincere condolences to the relatives of the 17-year-old deceased in Boeotia. The death of a young man is a tragic event. The circumstances under which the sad incident took place are under investigation by the competent authorities,” said the Minister of Citizen Protection.

“In any case, ELAS, which fights daily for the safety of citizens, must operate within the framework defined by the Constitution, the laws and the rules of engagement, even in conditions of delinquency and disloyalty, during which there is admittedly increased risk of an unfortunate outcome.

The competent police and judicial authorities are investigating the incident in all its dimensions with the foreseen and appropriate actions in order to fully clarify it” is stated in the statement of Yiannis Oikonomou.

The ELAS Headquarters issued a statement regarding the fatal injury of a car driver from a gunshot on Saturday night in Viotia during a police check after a chase.

As noted in the announcement, the circumstances of the shooting are being investigated, while the police officer involved in the incident is being detained and a case file is being filed against him.
