The regular briefing of the political editors by the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, is currently underway.

Mr. Marinakis started the briefing with a reference to the solidarity allowance that the Prime Minister announced to Sky in the morning and then the Finance Minister elaborated. As he said, the money will be given to 2.3 million beneficiaries.
-He then referred to the fines imposed yesterday for unfair profiteering on two multinational companies, amounting to 1,672,000 euros in total. Audits are ongoing, he said.
-Then speaking about Thessaly, Mr. Marinakis made extensive reference to the research on water management. The Dutch company that has undertaken the research warns that the design must be changed.
-There is a need to review all flood protection plans and infrastructure to build better.

Regarding the implementation of the Government’s initiatives for the reconstruction of the regions of Thessaly and Evros as well as dealing with the climate crisis, the Prime Minister will inform the House of Parliament next Wednesday, November 22, in accordance with article 142A of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament.
Infrastructure should include water retention, pumping and irrigation capacity, reservoirs and smaller dams.
It will be followed by an extensive presentation to the new and outgoing regional governor of Thessaly and to all those responsible for the region. The final master plan will be delivered by the end of February 2024.
