Next Tuesday, November 21, he will submit the 2024 State Budget to the Parliament, the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis. According to the Speaker of the Parliament, Constantinos Tasoula, the Budget will be submitted for processing to the competent parliamentary committee on Thursday 23 and Friday 24 November, in two double meetings, while it is expected to be discussed in the Plenary Session of the Parliament between December 13-17, 2023.

Briefing the parliamentary editors on the upcoming work program of the Parliament, Mr. Tasoulas said that on Wednesday, November 22, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will inform the House about the government’s reconstruction measures for the regions of Thessaly and Evros. The briefing by the prime minister will be done in accordance with the procedure of Article 142A of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, in the context of which, the presidents of the Parliamentary Groups of the opposition can develop their views on the content of the government’s announcement.

As Mr. Tasoulas also said, on Friday, November 24, the Conference of the Presidents of the Parliament decided to hold the debate on the proposals of SYRIZA-PS and PASOK-Kinima Amendment to establish a preliminary investigation committee for the Tempe train accident.

The proposal of SYRIZA-PS provides for the establishment of a Special Parliamentary Committee “to carry out a preliminary examination according to article 86 par. 3 of the Constitution, articles 153 et seq. of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament and article 5 of Law 3126/2003 on the “Criminal Liability of Ministers” for the investigation of any crimes committed by the former Minister Mr. Konstantinos Karamanlis in the exercise of his duties and the preliminary investigation of the former Ministers etc. Konstantinou Hatzidakis, Michalis Chrysochoidis and Christos Spirtzis”.

The proposal of PASOK-Movement for Change provides for the establishment of a Special Parliamentary Committee to carry out a preliminary examination, according to article 86 par. 3 of the Constitution, articles 153 et seq. of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament and article 5 of Law 3126/2003 on the “Criminal Liability of Ministers”, in order to investigate any criminal responsibilities of the former Ministers of the SYRIZA/ANEL and ND governments etc. Chr. Spirtzis and Kon. Karamanlis, related to their acts and omissions regarding the execution of the Agreement 717/2014 entitled “Restructuring and Upgrading of the Signaling – Remote Control and Replacement of 70 track changes in identified sections of the Athens – Thessaloniki – Promachona axis” and which led to the tragic Tempe accident and the loss of 57 human lives.

Regarding the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry for “the investigation of the crime of Tempe”, which was decided by the Plenary of the Parliament yesterday, Wednesday, November 15 (following a relevant proposal of the KKE), Mr. Tasoulas said that he sent a letter to the parties today, in order to nominate their deputies as members of this committee.
