Former actress Suzy Camacho, 64, was indicted by the São Paulo Civil Police on suspicion of diverting $ 42.2 million from the assets of businessman Farid Curi, her ex-husband, who died at the age of 85 in 2022.

According to the inquiry conducted by the 4th Police District of Consolação, Suzy would have taken advantage of his partner’s weakened health to move values ​​and transfer assets for his own benefit.

The prosecution rekindles the spotlight about a legal dispute that has been going on for years around Curi’s fortune and the relationship he has maintained with Suzy in recent years.

Farid Curi was one of the main responsible for the consolidation of Atacadão as a power of national retail. Although he was not the founder of the network, he took over the company’s administrative and commercial management in the 1970s, along with partners Herberto Schmeil and Alcides Parizotto (the latter left society in 1991).

With initial headquarters in Maringá (PR), Atacadão expanded rapidly under the command of Curi and became one of the largest groups in the sector, adopting a sore and discreet management. According to Istoé magazine in 2012, he and the partners avoided drawing attention in the negotiations – in which using blank business cards to prevent the name of the company from inflating land prices.

In 2007, the wholesale network was sold to the French Group Carrefour, in one of the largest transactions ever made in the Brazilian retail sector. The operation included 34 stores in operation, 17 of them in the state of São Paulo, as well as a potential for strategic expansion.

Even after the sale of Atacadão, Curi continued to act as an entrepreneur. According to data from the Transparency Portal compiled by the transparency site, he had ties with 34 active or inactive CNPJs in different states of the country, such as Bahia, Pernambuco and Mato Grosso.

Relationship with Suzy Camacho and family dispute

Lawyer Luiz Flávio Borges d’Arso, who represents Suzy Camacho, denies and says that the indictment is the result of a “frame” of the children of Farid, who would be involved in other surveys for slanderous denunciation, corruption of witnesses and threats. “It’s all a lie. Nothing has been found, no crime has been checked and no criminal complaints exist against Suzy,” said the crime.
