The opinion that the attacks he has received show that those who carried them out “do not accept the base of the party” was expressed by the president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakis, in an interview he gave to ANT1 and to the show “Enopios Enopio” which is being broadcast at this time.

Answering the question why he got involved with politics in Greece, he first referred to Alexis Tsipras and his choice to put him on the party’s ruling ballot. Continuing, he said, however, that he saw “a void in the progressive space in Greece”.

“ I saw a gap for a reliable and hybrid proposal. Do not forget that in our internal parties I was the only candidate who had a position, proposals, on the internet, in the judgment of the people, in the judgment of the members. I was very clear about what I wanted to do. I even wrote it in newspapers, yes, I want to make a big progressive party. Just as the SYRIZA manifesto says, which covers from the radical Left to the progressive Center. That’s what I want to do,’ he said.

Asked about the characterizations he has received and whether he is ultimately a leftist, he answered in the affirmative, claiming that he shows it “in practice”. He emphasized that he was elected “democratically from the base of the party”, contrasting those who do not accept it.

“When someone from the second day of my term in the presidency of SYRIZA starts and gives me names and adjectives and all the designations that there can be, obviously what does this show? It shows that they do not accept the base of the party. It shows,” he characteristically said.
