“You saw what happened to the US. They didn’t give us air defense systems and we got the S-400,” commented the Turkish president on the Eurofighter and Germany’s objections
At the upcoming meeting on December 7 with Mr Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Turkish president mentioned the dialogue between Greece and Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoganin a conversation he had with journalists on the plane back from Germany.
As the SKAI correspondent in Istanbul reports, Manolis KostidisErdogan reiterated his position that there should be no mediators between the two countries and stressed that “we can resolve our differences on some issues.”
“We will talk about these at the cooperation conference we will hold. I hope it will happen exactly as Mitsotakis said and that our relations with Greece will reach a better point. I hope that we will start a new process. We want to decrease enemies and increase friends, we hope we will take this step. As two important and neighboring countries in the region, it is quite natural that our interests are in the same direction. We can resolve our differences of opinion on some issues by prioritizing dialogue. As regional countries, if we exclude from the process third countries, which approach the issue with profit and market logic, we do not have a problem that we cannot solve”, he said characteristically.
Regarding his meeting with the German political leadership and the Eurofighters, the Turkish president said:
“You saw what the media member told us about this issue at our bilateral press conference in Berlin. This is their point of view. But the chancellor never entered into this matter. He did not comment on whether they will give Eurofighter or not. We have already given our answer clearly. If they give us these planes, they will give them, but if they don’t give them isn’t there a door we can knock on? A lot. So, you know, what steps were taken in air defense systems before the S400? America didn’t provide the air defense systems it was supposed to, so we bought S400s from Russia. We currently have S400. I hope we continue on our way much stronger. We are on our way to becoming a country that produces and uses its own weapons. We are taking steps to permanently meet our needs for warplanes.”
Recep Tayyip Erdogan also spoke to General Assembly of the National Turkish Student Unioncalling Scholz and Steinmeier “crusaders” and “imperialists.”
“The whole Western world, the whole edifice of Crusaders and imperialists is together. They do not have anything that separates them. Unfortunately, this is what I saw during my visit last night. And I saw this in the president and the other! They lie down, get up and keep saying Hamas, Hamas, Hamas! They say that with the exit of Hamas, the fire broke out”, he pointed out.
And he continued:
“The Crusader-Crescent logic is not over. It continues normally. Those who light the ring of fire and rekindle it have only one goal. It is to prevent Turkey, which is the engine of the Turkish and Islamic world, from reaching its goals. But they won’t succeed!
When we talk about these lands in a general sense we are talking about the geography of our heart. If there is anyone who does not want to admit that Turkey does not consist only of its borders, it is either an idiot, or someone who has sold out their mind and heart to others.
That is why we look at our environment with the geography of our heart in mind, and we must consider the issues according to this situation. This is the case with Syria, this is the case with Iraq, this is the case with Cyprus, every issue in the Caucasus is this way. Every issue in the Balkans is like this Every issue in South Asia is like this This is every issue that starts from the shores of the eastern Mediterranean and reaches the depths of Africa. This is also the case with every issue of our 7 million fellow citizens who live in various countries of Europe. Of course, the same is true of what is happening in Gaza and Jerusalem.
Anyone say what do we care about Syria? What do we care about Iraq? What do we care about Karabakh? What do we care about Libya? What do we care about Bosnia? What we are interested in is Jerusalem, in fact, unintentionally or intentionally, it puts stumbling blocks in the path of Great Turkey”.
