Her Argyro Lampara, a teacher in public special education schools who has joined the “Personal Assistant” program for People with Disabilities, the Prime Minister met today Tuesday Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in the Acropolis Museum.

The prime minister discussed with Argyro and her personal assistant, Alexandra Bekou, for the positive impact that the pilot program has on the daily lives of the participants and their families, but also for the improvements that can be made before its universal implementation begins.

“I am very glad that we are given the opportunity to hold this meeting. I am doubly happy that a personal vision of mine, the institution of the personal assistant, has already started and is taking root and people like you have the opportunity to have access to a person who makes their lives, their daily lives, their work and their enjoyment better,” said the Prime Minister.

“I consider it a program among the most important that have taken place in modern Greece for Persons with Disabilities. It is still at the beginning, there are difficulties. Even other PWDs, who do not have a personal assistant, are waiting for it. I generally feel in my life that I am lucky. I have a wonderful family, I have friends who love me, I have Alexandra. I am lucky to have been drawn, but I would like other PWDs to be lucky too. Let the program be done quickly for everyone”, stressed Argyro from her side.

“For me it is one of the most emblematic programs of a big plan for People with Disabilities, which of course is not limited to the “Personal Assistant”, which is the best we can do for people mainly with severe disabilities, but extends to many different aspects of our policy, with accessibility being very important”, pointed out Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
