He characterized Kasselaki’s positions as contradictory but also conservative
Nasos Iliopoulos talked about a difficult decision when talking about his departure from SYRIZA.
As he mentioned, in an interview with OPEN, at the beginning of next week the parliamentary group of the “6+6” group of Efi Ahtsioglou will be formed.
“I believe that at the beginning of next week we will form the parliamentary group, just a few days of patience,” said Mr. Iliopoulos.
“We tried to fight our disagreements, within our collective processes. It is not easy to see that something for which you have fought and given things for twenty years, is led to a dead end. However, in life there are also difficult decisions,” he said.
“The big picture shows a government that remains sovereign, but implements profoundly anti-popular policies. The official opposition is collapsing and the current leadership refuses to acknowledge the problem. When you see that something is heading for the cliff, you have a responsibility to say that things are not going well” he added stressing that this is not a civil war with either Polakis, Kasselakis or SYRIZA.
He summarized that at the moment, the problem is that the country has no opposition, while he spoke of the collapse of SYRIZA.
He characterized Kasselakis’ positions as contradictory but also conservative, while commenting on the latter’s statements about “returning to the old colonial Greece”, he underlined that they have nothing to do with the “values for which SYRIZA has fought”.
“For this reason, a progressive, left-wing, militant and programmatic space is needed, which will be able to respond to New Democracy. How can Mr. Kasselakis answer? His political positions are completely contradictory and when he conveys some composed messages, they are deeply conservative,” he pointed out.
“We want a political plan in order to win the New Democracy. The only frame worth fighting for must make the “today” of the people. In the progressive space today, there is a political vacuum,” he pointed out, among other things.
