The proposals of SYRIZA – PS and PASOK – Movement for Change for the establishment of pre-investigation committees regarding the so-called “717” contract (Signaling of the Athens-Promahona railway axis) are being discussed today by the Plenary of the Parliament.

THE proposal of SYRIZA – PS concerns the possible commission of the “crimes” of criminal infidelity and dereliction of duty by the former Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Costas Karamanlisthe possible commission of the offense of breach of duty by the ministers of the period 2012-2014 Kostis Hatzidakis and Michalis Chrysochoidis and the possible commission of the offense of breach of duty by the minister of the period 2015-2019 Christos Spirtzis.

THE proposal of PASOK-Movement for Change concerns the possible commission of the offense of breach of duty during the period from 6-11-2016 to 9-07-2019 by the former minister Christos Spirtzis and the possible commission of the offences: a) disloyalty “to the detriment of the financial interests of the European Union and the Greek State” and b) breach of duty (Article 259 of the Civil Code) by the former minister Costas Karamanlisin the exercise of their duties.

The debate will begin with a circle of speakers from the 8 parties of the Parliament and will be followed by speeches of the persons against whom the proposals are directed. These persons have the right to submit written memoranda to the Parliament.

Afterwards, there will be two more rounds of 15 speakers (in proportion to the strength of the parliamentary groups and the 14 independent MPs).

The meeting is expected to conclude at around 10 pm, when a simultaneous secret ballot will be held in 4 ballot boxes, in which those opposed to the proposals of the two parties are not participating.
