Greece will consistently continue to contribute to the de-escalation of the crisis in the Middle East in every possible way as a reliable interlocutor of all parties, was the message of the foreign minister Giorgos Gerapetritis during the meeting yesterday afternoon with the Arab Ambassadors in Athens.

It is enabled, as he pointed out, by the strategic relationship it has built with Israel, but also by the traditional close ties with the Arab World.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, responding to the request of the Ambassadors of Arab countries in Athens (of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Jordan, Algeria, Palestine, Libya, Iraq and Lebanon), their reported on the results of his recent trip to Ramallah.

Mr Gerapetritis emphasized that it is absolute need to address the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip immediately and to fully respect the humanitarian pause in order to ensure the unhindered flow of aid through multiple entry points, to provide necessary medical assistance to the wounded and those in need, and to release the hostages held following the terrorist attack by Hamas on 7 October .

For their part, the Ambassadors of the Arab countries in Athens thanked Mr. Gerapetritis for his response to the meeting request, but also for the attitude of principle that Greece maintains.
