The system of power that has been set up in the country under Mr. Mitsotakis “both eats and lies”, say sources of the official opposition party
SYRIZA is criticizing the government with the latest bills, accusing Mr. Mitsotakis of inconsistency with what he had announced before the elections while talking about a system that dissolves the social and economic fabric of the country, according to sources from the main opposition party.
In particular, the same sources note:
Mr. Mitsotakis insists on lies:
He declared before the election that taxes would not increase. It now imposes horizontal and unfair taxation on freelancers.
He said he would reduce VAT on non-alcoholic beverages. Now he is increasing it, at a time when, according to the 2024 budget, citizens will be burdened with 1.6 billion euros in additional tax costs.
He promised to reduce inequalities. It now distributes Recovery Fund resources in a biased manner, wiping out small and medium-sized businesses.
He said he would deal with the accuracy. Now Greece emerges as the pan-European champion in food inflation.
He pledged to raise wages. Now official figures show that real wages fell by 0.2% in 2023.
He said he would strengthen the NSS. Now the Hospitals present an image of abandonment, with the latest example being the shameful situation at “ELENA”.
He spoke about the need for convergence with Europe. Now our country shows a negative deviation in spending on health, education and disability, while it is 24th out of 27 in purchasing power.
He pledged to legalize marriage for same-sex couples. Now he constantly refers him to the Kalendas, being held hostage by Mr. Samaras and the far-right wing of his party.
He promised proud and serious foreign policy. Now we see constant back and forth on national issues, based on the ND’s internal party balances.
The list of Mr. Mitsotakis’ unreliability is endless.
In the end, the only thing that is consistent is in the service of specific interests:
With the provocative provision passed by the ND in November 2019 on the immunity of bankers, it “washed away” the granting of offshore loans and the big scandals of its favored mothers. The legislative regulation brought by Giorgos Floridis (which the government initially seemed to be unaware of) is ashes in the eyes of public opinion for the scandals that preceded it.
With the loss of billions of the State from the disinvestment of the HFSF from the share capital of the banks.
With the ongoing party of direct assignments to friends and loved ones.
With the understaffing of the audit organizations, resulting in rampant profiteering.
By constantly obstructing the work of the Independent Authorities.
With the executives of the National Transparency Authority abandoning the ship one after the other (why else?).
Finally, the power system that has been set up in the country under Mr. Mitsotakis “both eats and lies”.
SYRIZA – PS is here as a strong bulwark of institutional responsibility and social sensitivity towards this system that is tearing apart the social and economic fabric of the country. With determination, documented and applicable proposals on taxation, bad loans, housing, next to the citizens and their needs.
