With a post on social media, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his condolences for the death of the great writer Vassilis Vassilikos.

“I was saddened to learn of the death of Vassilis Vassilikos, a personality with an indelible stamp on Greek and world literature. He was lucky, after all, to be one of our most translated prose writers. And, always, a voice that honored Greece and beyond our borders” says the Prime Minister.

“Vasilikos was a master storyteller who for decades wove stories that fascinated, sharpening the reader’s reflection. But he was also an active citizen. Fighter of the dictatorship and, later, a participant in the building of the Republic, which he also served as a member of parliament.

Although in different political arenas, he has always had my respect for his contribution to letters, as well as for his belief in the principles of freedom and equality. I pay the same respect today, along with my condolences to his wife and daughter” concludes Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
