“The postal vote concerns all those registered in the electoral rolls, wherever they live, it is a tool that is used internationally and will be an incentive” said the Deputy Minister of the Interior Th. Livanios
“The postal vote concerns all those registered in the electoral rolls, no matter where they live, there is no need to invoke any justification”, explained on Friday morning to SKAI and the program ‘ATERIASTOI’ the Deputy Minister of the Interior Th. Livanios.
Asked if the specific decision was taken because of the large abstention in the electoral process, he said: “There was a lot of talk about abstention, I think that postal voting is an institutional solution and will increase participation, it is a tool that is used internationally and will be an engine.”
“If someone has chosen to vote by mail, they will not be able to vote in a polling station. With one exception which we insert because someone might not have caught it or regretted it. Any electors who have registered to vote by mail and it has not been received by 5 o’clock on Saturday their file from the committee that will be set up THEN they will be able to vote in a polling station,” said Mr. Livanios.
He added that the process is simple and tested at the global level, only the ballot will be a little different from what we are used to.
“No cost to voters”
“There is no cost to the electorate,” he finally declared to SKAI.
“40 days before the elections, until April 28, citizens should connect with the TAXIS codes on gov.gr and submit an application to register for the postal voting process.”
