“A part of our country was forever there, stuck. He cannot overcome the collective trauma caused by the murder” notes the president of SYRIZA
“December 6th. It will forever be the day of Alexis Grigoropoulos. Where the arbitrariness of violence deprived him of his growth. Who remained forever 15 years old”, states, in his post, the president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakis.
“And a part of our country remained forever there, frozen. Not being able to overcome the collective trauma caused by the murder. Are the wounds healing? No.
But great wounds often help in the realization of a society, in its evolution, in its progress. If the trauma from the murder of Alexis Grigoropoulos remains so deep, it is because the cleansing never came,” he adds.
Then Mr. Kasselakis notes: “On the contrary, in those days, the Kerkoporta was opened for the dance of the cannibals that continues to this day. Cannibals standing over the dead body of a 15-year-old wondering “what was he doing in Exarchia at such a time”. And then cannibals who, with the dead body of Pavlos Fyssas still warm, said “kill him for football”. And then cannibals who trampled on the dead body of Zak Kostopoulos, sowing misery: “He was a thief and a thief”. And then cannibals who, in every femicide, wonder “what was his job there” and “why didn’t he leave”.
“Alexis Grigoropoulos’ generation, the 15-year-olds who were baptized riots, today are 30-year-olds facing work without rights, unemployment, punctuality, unapproachable rents, uncertainty. A whole generation wronged. Maybe time would have softened our mourning, if society and the country had taken a different path, instead of that of conservatism, intolerance, tolerance of fascism” emphasizes the president of SYRIZA-PS and adds:
“We have an obligation to create a country for Alexis’ generation. In the name of Alexis. A country with equality before the law, with fellow human beings, with opportunities, with the future”.
“This for us and our society. For the family of Alexis Grigoropoulos, my thoughts, my respect and my silence. Because there is nothing to say to people who lose a child”, Mr. Kasselakis concludes, with a postscript.
