Yesterday’s announcements by the government on fan violence are on two levels, one of which concerns the stadiums, said Mr. Marinakis on the SKAI program Mismatches, with the essence of the problem, however, being the attacks that take place outside the stadiums as well.

Subsequently, the government representative referred to the incidents of fan violence such as that of Alkis Kampanos, Michalis Katsouris, and the 31-year-old police officer that occurred outside the stadium.

The most important announcement of yesterday’s measures, said Mr. Marinakis, is the visit of the ministers to the Supreme Court which aims to upgrade the justice investigation in order to find financiers and moral perpetrators in order to deal with the problem at its core.

For many years now it seems that there is something organized in the stadiums that also concerns other illegal activities and not just one cracker such as financing, drug dealing.

With reference to the criticism leveled at the government for behind closed doors matches, Mr. Marinakis replied that the majority of teams do not check tickets with ID.

We understand the anger and indignation of the fans who have paid season tickets, but the state must also protect those who will want to go to the stadium with their child and a responsible state is better in this case to apologize and protect them but they will know that when they return who will be by their side”said Mr. Marinakis.

“The responsibility rests with those who, as anonymous companies, do not ensure the appropriate conditions for their customers, for their fans who give money.”

“If those who have to do not comply, we will take tougher decisions, the government will take whatever measures are necessary, and after February 12, many things will be examined, especially the electronic ticket with identity,” added the government representative.
