With spikes against the president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, the former parliament member of Thessaloniki, Alexandros Triantafyllidis, announced his departure from the official opposition partytalking about the mutation and fragmentation of the party, while at the same time he defended the deeds of the government of Alexis Tsipras.

“If the communication needs of the new president require the termination of the 2015-2019 government, I want to underline, I who did not have the honor to be a member of it, that I am proud of it,” writes Mr. Triantafyllidis, among other things, speaking of ” hatred at the expense of comrades who shared the same struggles and the same anxieties during all these difficult years”, says Mr. Triantafyllidis in his resignation announcement.

The entire letter of Mr. Triantafyllidis:

Dear Rania
The personal and collective journey “from Black to Light”, as I called it in my consciousness, began for me on June 13, 2013. During the two years of volunteer work at the free ERT, I studied at the school of movements and collectives. Where the “I” of the ERT3 journalist, after 23 years of front-line journalism, gave way to the “we” of cooperation with
my fellow layoffs with a common vision and purpose: to take our lives back.
The proposal of Alexis Tsipras to join the ballot of SY.RI.ZA.- P.S. in Thessaloniki it found fertile ground as, after the layoff and unemployment, I had already decided to try to offer my city and society from the now political meterizi.
It was then that the current president of SY.RI.ZA. he wrote in favor of laying off workers. By the time he wrote that, well over 15,000 people would have to have already been fired, for him to claim today that he was too young to remember what he wrote then. We, on the other hand, will never forget what we experienced during that time with them
our families.
The path is difficult, with the pistol of the memos to the temple. In the summer of 2015, the dilemma of the split is relentless: who will you go with and who will you leave. The decision then was determined by the absolute priority to support our vulnerable fellow citizens, the needy,
the unemployed, to get the country out of the humanitarian crisis with society standing.
If the communication needs of the new president require the
complaint of the 2015-2019 government, I want to underline, I who did not have the honor to be a member of it, that I am proud of it. Of course, the enemy of the good is always the best, but what the government has achieved
Tsipras for the country in the most adverse conditions required courage, determination, moral integrity, political ability with an eye to the future.
The historic Prespa Agreement, the legislative interventions on labor matters, the necessary for the exit from the suffocating economic supervision of 37 billion and everything that the government of the Left dared and achieved, are a legacy that NO ONE has the right to underestimate, ignore, falsify as they see fit, whatever office he holds.
These days I strongly feel the sadness and bitterness of our members and the citizens who supported us throughout time, those who fought with us and contributed with soul and calculation, those who dedicated valuable time of their lives to SY.RI.ZA.- Progressive Alliance , as they watch
this building is in danger of collapsing.
I wonder where was hiding so much hatred against comrades who shared the same struggles and the same anxieties during all those difficult years. Unfortunately, beyond any morbid imagination and negative prediction, our space exudes disillusionment, shrinking and defeatism.
The defeat in the parliamentary and local government elections as well as the fragmentation of our forces in the presidential election left unhealed wounds in the body of our organizations.
Solidarity and collectivity, identity values of the Left, gave way to division and hostility, causing disgust in many of our comrades, who now choose demobilization and privatization.
SY.RI.ZA, with its current image of mutation and obsolescence, tends to become part of the problem and not part of the solution for Greek society, which seeks and demands a structured and convincing exit plan from the multifaceted crisis and not attempts march towards the “unknown by boat the hope”. Accuracy on all fronts
everyday life, the broken public health and education, the crisis
credibility in the functioning of democratic institutions, the multiple challenges shaping the international political scene at a difficult moment, are issues that require immediate responses with a specific direction and political content.
It is vitally important now to make a “leap faster than decay”, to recall the words of the poet. Wear and tear intensified by improvisations, anti-democratic outbursts and constant backstabbing by the current leadership.
During the entire period of my term in the parliament, I followed my conscience and the needs of the citizens, without participating in trends, groups, decision-making centers. With reflection and deep regret, I feel that today I cannot synchronize my political steps
with the new reality that defines SY.RI.ZA., a reality that clearly alters its political identity and essence.
However, I want to emphasize that the characterizations and disparaging reports about comrades with whom we have fought for so many years together do not befit us, whatever their choice. We are united by the pride of yesterday, we may also be united by the struggles of tomorrow. Our only opponent is the government of N.D. and the anti-people, neo-liberal, unrepentant
its policy.
The need to evolve, deeply renew and re-establish the Left, but also more generally the progressive and ecological political space, requires initiatives that will defend public goods and society, so that citizens can live with dignity and not just survive. Regaining their trust requires courage and honesty. A political contract of responsibility and humanity is the only answer to the brutality of everyday life that turns into a new normal of zero expectations.
In the final analysis and because we are not what we say, but what we do, progressive citizens and society as a whole judge and evaluate the attitude, political initiatives and choices of all of us.
Dear Secretary of K.E. of SYRIZA-P.S.
based on my thoughts above, I inform you that as of today, December 12, 2023, I am not a member of SY.RI.ZA.- P.S.
I am also communicating this to the Evosmos – Kordelios Members Organization of which I was a member until today.
