The philosophy of all interventions, said the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, is that state aid reaches the citizens who are entitled to it, as quickly as possible
Five interventions in order for state aid to reach citizens as quickly as possible, announced the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Triandopoulos, during the Budget debate in Parliament.
The state aid framework is the new framework for the rehabilitation and support of areas affected by natural disasters.
In the next period, the following are launched:
– the digital upgrade of state aid
– the completion of the organizational consolidation and upgrading of the structures
– the formation of conditions for the utilization of private insurance
– the update of the state aid framework, to businesses and agricultural holdings
– the modernization of the framework of housing assistance and assistance to households.
The philosophy of all the interventions, said the deputy minister, is that the aid of the state reaches the citizens who are entitled to it, as quickly as possible.
Mr. Triandopoulos referred to the major disasters in Thessaly. “By the end of the year, more than 300 million euros will have been given to tens of thousands of households, businesses and farmers in about 3.5 months. Historically, such a direct aid project has not been carried out before, which is ongoing,” said the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection. He also mentioned that, as part of the work of the government’s state aid committee, emergency funding is being launched for the local authorities to repair the damages. The philosophy that is followed is the emphasis on resilience but also the judicious and proper utilization of the available financial resources. In this direction, in the second half of 2023, resources of 145 million euros have been approved for the local authorities. Within the framework of the government committee, targeted measures are launched in addition to the horizontal ones, for a region or for a sector in need. At the same time, the state aid is accompanied by the planning and implementation of special reconstruction and development programs, as is done in North Evia, Evros and other areas.
The deputy minister underlined that the resources are channeled where there really is a need. At the same time, organized donations from private individuals are utilized and every means is exhausted so that the needs are covered by European resources. “The Prime Minister’s contribution was a catalyst in securing 2.2 billion euros from Europe for Thessaly. These are amounts that Europe has not burdened us with. As for the national part, the resources planned in the PDE for 2024 are twice as much as this year and reach 600 million euros,” said Mr. Triandopoulos.
